Numerous Themes For The Nursery Can Easily Be Found
Not so long ago, bedding for the nursery was limited to basic solid hues. There was white, and then pastel pink, blue, green, and yellow were added, but it was still rather boring and dull. Cotton was the only fabric offered. Next, a few prints were produced, featuring playful lambs or teddy bears. Still later, quilts began to sport cotton appliques, frequently of a fuzzy lamb. Truly interesting nursery bedding, however, remained elusive.
At length, manufacturers began to understand that they were not fulfilling the desires of the parents. They created new designs and began to use different fabrics. Bedding for baby became more interesting, and major fashion designers started to create blankets and sheets for tiny customers. Finally, the nursery moved from mere functionality to a room that could be decorated along with the rest of the house.
The current trend is to package all the elements needed to dress a crib into one package containing the complete bedding collection. Each will normally contain a bumper pad, quilt or blanket, dust ruffle, and Crib Sheet. If purchased separately, the cost can be much higher than if the set is bought. All items within the set are designed with one consistent theme.
Designer baby bedding from famous designers is available from numerous retailers. Some of the names, such as Eddie Bauer or Laura Ashley, are quite recognizable to most people. Designers feature a huge variety of themes, from geometrical designs to animal motifs. Exciting fabrics, appliques, and embroidery may also be included.
There is a plethora of themes on the market. Some are clearly designed for little girls, others for little boys, but many are not gender specific. Fish, sports images, pirates, jungle, cowboys, and animal themes are popular choices for boys. Girls might like the angels, flowers, ballerinas, and butterflies offered. Stars, ocean, alphabet, and number motifs are good choices for either gender. There are vintage quilt patterns and abstract geometric designs, and dragonfly and ladybug baby bedding is popular as well.
A few designers are integrating textures like felt, corduroy, or satin to make quilts more interesting to the touch. It is also possible to find crib sets made of organic or recycled materials.
Accessories can also be found that match the crib sets. Mobiles, lamps, rugs, toy bags, and diaper holders are widely available. Window treatments and wall art to match can also be found. Since there are so many themes to choose from, the only problem will lie in choosing which motif to select.
